WHAT IS PHYSiCAL EXERCISE

INTRODUCTION
Today all over the earth, several deadly diseases have taken their toll on the lives of men. Emotional unwellness, stress and social imbalance in the lives of men. The truth is most of these problems could be prevented if, we had resorted to a life of exercise.


The bible our mirror and guide towards our heavenly home, clearly outlined the roleof good health in the life of a christian. As a matter of fact, individual christian should take the issue of health very important. 

Noteworthy is the fact that physical exercise is a promoter and facilitator of good health. Hence, its significance cannot be over-emphasized.

WHAT THEN IS PHYSICAL EXERCISE?
Physical exercise is the performance  of any bodily activity that enhance or maintains physical fitnes and overall health and wellness. Further stating, it means the activity of exerting your muscles in various ways to keep fit.

TYPES OF EXERCISE
Physical excercise fall into four basic categories-viz:
- ENDURANCE EXERCISE: Endurance exercise increase your breathing and heart rate. Endurance exercise keeps your heart, lungs and circulatory system healthy and improve your overall fitness. 

ENDURANCE EXERCISE INCLUDES:
* Brisk (fast) walking or jogging.
* Yard work (mowing, raking, digging)
* Dancing

- STRENGTH EXERCISE: Strength exercise make your muscles stronger. They help you stay independent and carry our every day activities, such as climbing stairs and carrying things in the house. 

STRENGTH EXERCISE INCLUDE:
* Lifting weights
* Using a resistance band.
* Using your own body weight.

- BALANCE EXERCISE: 
Balance exercise help prevent falls, a common problem in older adults. Balance exercises include:
* Standing on one foot
* Heel-to-toe walk
* Tai chi

- FLEXIBILITY EXERCISE: Flexiblity exercises stretch your muscles and can help your body stay limber (active). Being flexible gives you more freedom of movement for other exercises as well as for your everyday activities including driving and getting dressed.

FLEXIBILITY EXERCISES INCLUDE:
* Shoulder and upper arm stretch.
* Calf Stretch
* Yoga.

However, not; exercise could be light, moderate or vigorous and could take any of the following forms for practice: 

Tennis (table or lawn), Soccer, Rugby, American football, Squash, Hockey, Badminton, Volleyball, Basketball, Martial arts, Tai chi, Yoga, Boxing, Swimming, Wrestling, Sprinting, Skipping, Riding a bicycle, Walking, Jumping, Pruning of garden plants and flowers, dancing, press-ups, Bend-overs, Jogging, Walking up and down a staircase, etc.

REASON FOR EXERCISING
Exercising is embarked upon for various reasons; some of which are:
* To strengthen teh muscles.
* Optimizing the cardiovascular system.
* Practicing specific athletic skills.

* To control body weight
* For fun.
* To win
* To socialize
* As a form of escapism.

REASON WHY PEOPLE DO NOT EXERCISE
people avoid exercises basically for the following reasons:
* Stress levels of individuals .
* Religious beliefs.
* Cultural considerations.

BENEFITS OF PHYSICAL EXERCISE
Adequate exercise good nutrition and a wholesome lifestyle are pre-requisites for a healthy life and the benefits are far-reaching; viz:
- Reduces tension physically and metally
- Improves mobility of body parts due to flexibility.

- Raises the number of red blood cells, which improves oxygen transportation.
- Strengthens respiratory muscles thereby enhancing healthy breathing.
- Exercise makes you eat less by suppressing appetite hormones.
- Regular exercise improve sex life.

CONCLUSION
Physical exercise can have immediate and long-term health benefits for an individual particularly, the christian. As such, every individual should make a concerted effort at kick starting a routine programme on physical exercise; for HEALTH they say is WEALTH.
